WOW Day 365: Will It Be Frank Sinatra Or Winston Churchill In Wasaga Beach
” My Way” By Sinatra Is A Classic Way To End
BUT I’m more of a Churchill man :
“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”
A whole year ago a few people thought I was mad to take on a project involving 365 things to do in Wasaga Beach. Well not so. If the last year has proved anything it is that we live in an area with numerous activities for all ages all year round.
Often it was matter of what NOT to include. Many, many “smaller” events for want of a better word were not mentioned. There are a number of restaurants and business’s in Wasaga Beach let alone the surrounding area still to explore.
So “365 things to do in Wasaga Beach” will continue. It will not be as frequent but at least once a week I will review or promote an event or business.
I always welcome guest writers if anyone wants to email me
To make up for not posting daily I am just finalising an events calendar that will be on this blog and also can hopefully be accessed from Facebook. Here anyone with something to promote can contact me and it will be added. The aim is to promote the big events such as the Christmas Parade right down to yard sales.
It’s April 18th and there is snow on the ground outside. But to end this beginning I want to look forward. Bill and Joe of The BeachBOOSTER do tremendous work here in Wasaga Beach. We all need a bit of sunshine at the moment, “The Beach Is Back.”

Day 364: Some Favourite Videos From The Last Year In Wasaga Beach
A Look Back At Some Of My Favourite Videos On The Penultimate Day of 365
Tomorrow will be a day to look forward but this is my 364th post and I’m feeling a bit self indulgent.
If nothing else this project has proved how much there is to do in Wasaga Beach and the surrounding area All Year Long. As they say “The Beach Is Just The Beginning” and anyone who lives here knows what a thriving community there is 365 days of the year. The town is not just a summer destination.
These videos give a taste of how lucky I feel to call Wasaga Beach home.
Tomorrow is day 365 of 365 things to do in Wasaga Beach; I hope you can join me

Day 363: Visit Duncans Cafe & Restaurant Collingwood, You Won’t Be Disappointed
Great Soup & Club Sandwiches At Duncans In Collingwood
Clients who I had helped buy an investment property in Barrie rang me yesterday morning. They don’t live in the area but were going to visit and could they take me to lunch? “Anywhere you can recommend in Collingwood” was the next question.
They liked the idea of a smaller, local restaurant rather than a chain and one of them couldn’t stand seafood. That was Catch 22 off the menu then
The pressure was on. And Duncans sprang to mind. Informal, even trendy, with very good food.
They loved it and bought a litre of soup to take away.
Success !!
It’s too easy to fall back on a chain restaurant or a visit to the Village At Blue Mountain. Good as these options are the area is full of local restaurants well worth a visit. Collingwood has a number and fortunately Wasaga Beach is starting to to attract a better variety such as “Katmanis” and Barcellos.
Another reason I love Duncans? They have their patio next to the restaurant where it should be. And always have even during the nonsense the politicians tried to implement by moving patios over to the curb in Collingwood. I believe Duncans was fined for not complying until reason was restored.
Unlike The Clash they fought the law and won

Duncans is at 60 Hurontario Street.
Day 362: Downtown Collingwood Easter Egg Hunt
Yes Even More Hunting To Do In Downtown Collingwood
If the Wasaga Beach Easter Eggstravaganza doesn’t pique your interest you can always head over to Collingwood for their annual Easter Egg Hunt and colouring contest on Saturday April 23rd.
The day begins at the Collingwood Museum with a ‘traditional’ Chocolate Easter Egg hunt on the lawn of the Collingwood Museum. Activities will begin at 9:30 am with the ‘egg hunt’ for the various age groups beginning at 10am.
At approximately 11 am activities will continue throughout the rest of the downtown. This is a fun event for all, as the ‘eggs’ are displayed throughout the district in the businesses windows and the participants have to count all the eggs throughout the downtown.
There will be an information/activity center set up at the Town hall, where you will be able to pick-up your Easter Egg Hunt forms along with colouring activities and other fun things to do. Volunteers will be there to assist and direct you and your egg hunters on all the day’s activities.
If you can’t get enough Easter fun head over to the Village At Blue Mountain only 10 minutes drive away for a weekend of free activities.

Day 358: The Wasaga Beach Mail Box Man
As Monty Python Would Say:
“And Now For Something Completely Different”
Last weekend was gloriously sunny for much of the time. Spring had finally arrived although there were still largish patches of snow around which always seems strange to me. To celebrate residents could be seen in Wasaga Beach working in yards and on their homes.
What’s this got to do with a “Mail Box Man”??
Well I recently came across an unusual business based here in Wasaga Beach. One where home owners can treat themselves to something quite individual to brighten up the outside of their home.

John’s unique mailboxes were featured on Global TV, in “Our Canada” magazine and Toronto Star newspaper.
