Day 118 of 365

The quote above by the late Bill Shankley reflects the passion football, sorry soccer ( football is played with the hands over here in North America ???) generates in Europe; Italians love soccer.

Wasaga Beach Soccer Club is equally impressive in its commitment with several 100 kids playing each week over the summer. This Wednesday the Under 18 boys team have an opportunity to match themselves against a visiting Italian team.

On Wednesday activities begin with opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m., followed by the exhibition game at 7 p.m at the Sports Field  on Klondike Park Road.

According to club president, Lou-Anne Pardon:

“It’s exciting. This is big. It’s the first time for an international team to play anywhere in Huronia District.”

As well as a great game to watch and you can support our community by coming along.

Coach of the Wasaga Beach team, Vyvyan Hardwick, played soccer in Italy on two occasions and told Pardon that the Italians were very welcoming. He said this will be an opportunity to return their hospitality.
