Day 39: Wasaga Beach’s Brand New Coffee Shop

Day 39 of 365.

A guest post looking at “Kokomo Beanz, the brand new coffee shop in Wasaga Beach.

I’m a big fan of Tim’s but sometimes you want something a bit more; a Latte or Espresso in less standard surroundings. A bit more of a food selection. Chris of Chris Eh Young Enterprises told me about Kokomo Beanz on Mosley Street and today I enjoyed a great bowl of chili and a latte there.

Here’s his review:

“So I have been to Kokome Beanz Cafe and Eatery three times already. Three visits to any establishment is my magic number. My first visit was an invite through Twitter from an employee. I met David and asked for his recommendation. After a very thorough question and answer session to get a feel for my tastes, I was served a hot, fresh, red eye. As it turns out a red eye is a shot of espresso in a cup of regular coffee. This is a great pick me up. My second visit was with my 4 year old daughter for one of our dates. This time I opted for a cappucino and she a chocolate chip cookie. The cappuccino looked like it was straight out of a book, simply perfect looking. The taste was exactly as the look would presume, perfectly done. Very well proportioned and an excellent portion too. My daughter rated the cookie 5 stars so it must have been good. My third visit was with my wife and two of my four children. We split a ham and cheese sandwich and a bowl of chili. My first note was how good the chili was. The grated cheese topping was a nice touch. The vegetables on the sandwich were fresh, as was the bread. This is becoming more and more uncommon these days. My wife and I each had a cup of their medium roast house blend. It was a very good roast but since we both like strong coffee next time we will opt for the dark roast.
As for the environment, it is just what Wasaga Beach needs. It could end up a little cramped when full but it offers a nice quiet atmosphere with well spaced tables and a couple of comfortable chairs situated in front of a TV and an electric fireplace. The free wifi is a definite asset that sets Kokomo Beanz apart from any other coffee shop in the immediate area.
Kokomo Beanz will not only become known as a place to get a great cup of coffee in a friendly atmosphere, it will also a place to do business over coffee or lunch. This is something that the small business people of Wasaga Beach need. I couldn’t recommend Kokomo Beanz any higher as the coffee is above average, the environment is much needed, and the food was good and fresh. The service is good and the servers friendly and helpful.
Stop in for a cup or a meal. If you need a hand deciding what to try, David will be happy to help. Tell him Chris from Twitter sent you.”

I agree that this place is amazing! The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is fantastic! I am really excited to see that Wasaga Beach has more to offer than a coffee shop food chain. I had stopped in to see what it was all about and I ordered a chocolate croissant to go. He packaged it up all nice and pretty, even drizzled some fresh chocolate syrup over it. I had put it in my fridge overnight to have for breakfast and I warmed it up the next morning in the microwave (as reccommended) and it was THEEE best chocolate croissant I had ever tasted in my life. I could only imagine what it would have tasted like fresh.
I am bugging all of my friends to visit with me one day so I can enjoy a nice cup of coffee and a slice of pie. Truely incredible and I will be a frequent visitor.

    5 stars!
