Wasaga Beach Fire Department Fire Prevention Week

October 4th to 10th “Stay Fire Smart Don’t Get Burned”

Starting October 4th the Wasaga Beach Fire Department ( 16-2nd Street and 3050 Mosley Street Wasaga Beach)  is holding an Open House. As part of Fire Prevention Week residents are invited to visit for a tour. Children are especially welcome and can see the trucks and equipment.wasagafire2.jpg

Top tips:

  • Cook with caution in the kitchen. Do not leave cooking unattended.
  • Keep children away from stoves.
  • Be careful whilst using curling irons, lamps,irons a heaters.
  • Test the temperature of your hot water. No hotter than 37 degrees C.
  • Use caution with portable heaters by keeping them clear of combustibles.
  • Clean and service furnaces and wood stoves.
  • Develop an escape plan and practice it.
  • Discard smoking materials in deep sturdy ashtrays.
  • Make sure you have operating smoke detectors on every level. It’s the LAW. $235.00 fine.
